Nicci is the owner of Thomaston Feed Cheshire which has been a go-to resource for pet owners in central Connecticut for the past 5 years. While the business boasts a beautiful retail location, the life of the business revolves around pet nutrition and education. As an expert in clinical animal nutrition having a strong passion for educating others she lectures pet owners and organizations including federal, state and municipal K9 teams, guide and therapy dog teams on proper preventative nutrition and supplementation. In addition to that, she enjoys working with veterinarians to change the dialogue on responsible fresh and raw feeding practices.
She is the canine preventative health nutrition resource for multiple magazines and contributes to the Thomaston Feed blog as well as many featured guest blogs on a variety of pet nutrition topics. Her work centers around changing the paradigm of animal preventative health to include nutrition. She believes that nutrition deserves recognition as the cornerstone of health and preventative maintenance. In addition to that, she hopes that nutrition acquires more recognition as a first line treatment for disease rather than an afterthought or something only explored after all other options are exhausted.
This fall and winter Nicci will be traveling to several conferences and seminars to further her education, including the University of Helskini, Finland to attend a seminar on evidence based raw food for dogs.
Nicci’s interests include metabolic diseases, raw diets, nutritional impact on disease prevention, diet supplementation and complementary diets for cancer treatment. Her business websites are www.thomastonfeed.com & www.therealpetnutritionist.com
